Aliminum ceiling in porch

i have light grey aluminum panels in the ceiling of my porch. They have become heavily mildewed. what is the best way to clean them? I do not want to ruin the finish.

Mildew is caused by moisture. Call it mildew or mold, bleach will kill it. Problem is bleach may change the color. Dilute the bleach. They also make an aluminum cleaner. Think it's another form of a bleach, smells like it. Menards and lowes sells aluminum cleaners. I use a strong bleach on my rain gutters once a year. Don't really care, it doesn't harm the white gutters. I've even used deck wash, very strong bleach.

I've used bleach on my aluminum gutters, facia and soffets, for more than 20 years, no problems. To clean my gutters, I take a brush on long pole and brush it on full strength. I don't even bother to wash bleach off gutters. White gutters are usually a mess as it is. These things are painted, yes if aluminum is not painted, will cause issues. Bleach or bleach like is the only thing that will kill mold. Pressure washer may look clean, but the mold will return real soon.

Most aluminum has a baked on finish that bleach will not harm.
However consider what it may be dripping on...

I can't remember, or find the recipe, but I had been given directions once for a solution of Bleach, Tide detergent, and Spicand Span, diluted in a gallon of water. I would spray it on with a pump sprayer, let it set about 10 minutes, then rinse it off with a hose. The black mildew would just run off in sheets. Good stuff. You should be able to find a suitable "recipe" on the net.
