Narrow lawnmower?

Just curious, Anyone out there involved in cemetery maintenance? I"m looking for a narrow lawn mower to mow between markers. been using a weed wacker for years and it"s a pain in the you know what. We can"t be the only ones with this problem? A 12 to 16 inch rotary mower would be excellent. Thanks in advance for any help. EGBinOR

We have a Weedeater that is mounted on wheels. You don't have to pack it around, and it works great!!

swisher, craftsman, and I think DR both make walk behind string trimmers.

I have a swisher.

uses 2 string trimmer cord pieces that are folded in a holder to make 4 6" blades or so. betweent hat and the rotating disc.. I beit it is right close to 16"

I have heard so many bad things about the DR. Their quality just isn't there for the money you spend. I am thinking about buying one of those to mow around implements and under fences - have been doing research. For the money just go with one of the brands at the box store. I think they are a very handy machine.

A friend gave me a 42 cm (approx 16") Honda-powered rotary mower she discovered in the garage when she moved. Dealer sticker indicates it was originally sold in Nottingham, England. How it wound up here in western NY is a mystery. (I've never seen a gas-powered mower this small here....)

It's great for trimming in narrow spots - would be ideal for cemetery service.

I've seen narrower mowers in stores. Jacobsen used to a make a Trim-O 12" rotary with a 321 2 cycle engine. It had 3 wheels. Maybe that's what it was made for?

I think the name of the mfg was brunton, maybe bunton, green and yellow thing. 3-1/2 HP briggs, not much shielding, OSHA might have killed them, I don't know. When straight shaft weed-eaters came out, they killed the market.

There used to be a Flymo mower that floated on air like a hover craft, no wheels. I always thought they were cool. I don't know if they are made anymore...I have not seen one for a long while. Might google on "hover mowers" and see what comes up. Those were narrow mowers as I recall.

I've been thinking of something like that mounted on a pole to the side of my garden tractor mower, for mowing under the low limbs on our pine trees.
12 volt powered, or 120 volt run with inverter or belt powered mounted generator.
Anyone care to speculate what size electric motor would be needed.

Never saw a narrow Flymo. You can still buy the hover mowers but they aren't called Flymo anymore. Google Allen hover mower. We had an original Flymo back in the 60's with the air filter up on the handle. Hover mowers are used a lot on golf courses for mowing slopes like the sides of tee boxes etc. You adjust the height of cut with spacers under the blade.

someone already builds that. ti is made to pull beside a lawnmower and it mows a fence line / even is spring loaded to ride around posts.
