Where can the best tappet wrenches for a reasonable price be bought? I see Craftsman sells a 5 set for around $40-45. Anyone have them and like them? How about pros and cons to them or any other brand?? Thickness thin enough?

TIA

What engines do you work? You are asking about wrenches for L head engines correct? We bought a used set of Snap on from a guy that retired. I have had Williams and they worked O. K. I also have a few Proto wrenches. Also do you do older F model Continental engines? If so you will need a 3/4 and a 7/8 inch not just one wrench with those two sizes.

Yes I am asking about wrenches for L head engines. Yes I also do work on 30s-40s F series engines, I will also be using them on Hercules IX engines. I am looking for a complete set of wrenches 3/8"-7/8". Of all those brands do you have a favorite or preference that you liked better? Have you ever found any of them not to be quite thin enough to do the job or weak and want to spring open?

Thanks!

Thanks!

If you are looking at Sears , check where they came from . Most all the hand tools are Chinese , and you don't want them . Look for a dealer that handles S-K or Proto ,Good american brands . Or Pawn shops and swap meets for even bigger savings.

Yes they made tools back in the late 30s. I have my dads tools that were bought back then but have repaced some of the ratch wrenchs witch Sears replaced no charge .
