Calling lance

He got his hackles up a while back 'cause some folks attempted to give him some advice that he didn't want to hear.

He is young, will come around. He may know a lot, but the older you get the less you realize you know.

Someone was complaining that he was making money off his videos and they appear to have been banned. I don't know if Lanse was banned as well or not. He might just have had enough of the BS.

I bought one of those Striker welding helmets he was hawking and I just love it. I stitch welded a patch in a wheel a coupla days ago with it on. I can't use my other helmets for stitching small patches and use the close the eyes and pull the trigger method.

I don't think it was BS, he just didn't handle constructive criticism or well meant advice well.

I don't know how many of you guys remember when Lanse came onto this board when he was about 14 or 15 years old. Some of his posts were a bit irritating, but in my opinon, he has matured into a fine young man.

His skills are wide-ranging, his willingness to make videos that display his successess and his failures, and his up-beat attitude makes his posts very enjoyable.

I enjoy his posts and hope he puts many more of them here for us to enjoy. I'm not a welder and don't even own a welder, but I still find his posts to be informative

Oh I give him all the credit in the world for what he has accomplished, but he still has a lot to learn.

I remember when he started posting. Will say one thing, everybody puts down the youger generation, he is an example of the ones that will succeed. Let him grow, I enjoy his videos and his perspective on life, have a few decades on him and forget sometimes how it was to be younger and full of energy, Mark

You'll find Chuck or "Lanse"at Millerwelds on the forums over there. Some of the things that was said to that young man were rude over here. Constructive criticism is one thing but down right mean is another. He tries really hard and will succeed at what he sets in his goals.

He handled constructive criticism fine. I think he
finally got tired of certain people intentionally
trying to knock him or anything he posted. There's
a big difference! I think a lot of people were
also jealous of him because he was given equipment
to try out and that's why they figured he was
making all this money off his video's. I wish I
could get free stuff to use too but give full
kudo's to Lanse for actually making it happen. He
was trying to help people and if he is gone, it's
because of some of the people on this forum.

Not to criticize, but there are a few on here that get their shorts in a wad any time someone new asks a dumb question. Do they forget that they were young or inexperienced once too? I don't weld, but I sure liked some of Lanse's projects. If I did weld, they gave me some ideas. I remember when he was "kind of nerdy" too. But as others have said he has grown a lot. Someday he will be in high demand for his welding skills. I could see him in a mobile welding service to the farming community.

What happened was tool talk became judge, jury and executioner, and pardon me YT, its your site, your rules,(I say that respectfully) but these forums do benefit from all, be it those who are highly technically orientated, experienced, trained and or educated or someone who is just plain clueless and asks a question.

I don't care for disagreements, and bickering, but to a degree as long as its within the confines of the rules here, respectfully and civil, but hey, I don't make the rules. Playing favorites or running people out indirectly not cool, but I am sure some are missed here now. I won't mention names.... but things like this are very productive results aren't they though ? LOL !

Oh well.......

He made money off his video's on Youtube, but he posted some here for free to his friends here. Nothing wrong with that to my notion.

If you enter into agreement with Google (who owns youtube) they will pay you so much per view of your video. It has to do with advertising, not charging people to see the video. So I don't see how they could ban his videos here without banning all video here.

I agree Billy. To many experts on here. That seem to forget. There was a time. When they were young dumb and stupid also.

I was taught that there was no such thing as a dumb question. When you are trying to learn. If I remember correctly. Lance lives in a town not far from mine. Maybe I will run into him someday.

Being on this site for a few years, I've seen a lot of knuckle heads that just cannot form information given in a helpful, constructive way. All it appears that they want to do is show the questioner how much they don;t know.
If I remember right, Lance did not have his father around to guide him at what he attempted to do, BUT the kid was at least wanting to learn, and was inventive and inquisitive.
I don't post much, but some with high handed retorts and sarcastic replies really get me ticked.

I agree with torchguy as a old machinist i used to tell the young one"s no such thing as a dumb question (the only dumb one is the one you didn"t ask that you should have)

There are a lot of self professed experts here, and many don't have a real clue about welding. I won't post anything on welding here because it is a giant waste of time, it is to hard to explain some of the intricate details of welding in a couple short sentences. It's a shame this is a great friendly forum with excellent people when it comes to antique tractors, but there are some people that seem to have no interest in tractors but just come here to stir up crap. I know there are other professional welders who won't waste there time with posting about welding on here as well as it just frustrates them.
