Had to Repair My oldest Ni-Mh BATTERY AGAIN

This battery is about 6 or 7 years old. It produces so much current that it burns the connections between cells. My circular saw uses the most current and then my sawsall.

After I soldered the connection back together using solder wick, the charger wouldn't charge the battery. Had to put the flash light on the battery and drain it for a good hour.

Operation was a success and patient lived for another day.

wife has a house sweeper that uses a multi sub-c cell pack. like 6 bats. shark wanted some ungodly amount of money for it. like 45$ delivered. battery store has nimh hicap subc cells that are 1.75x more capacity for less than 2$ per cell.. and they even tack welded top abd bottom tabs on for me so i could solder them up easy. so building one costs less than 12$ AND is a 2800ma pack vs a 1600MA pack to boot!

works great. does entire 'tiled' sectionof house 2x+ before needs recharging.. vs 1x

Soundguy,
Dewalt, to my knowledge, doesn't sell the Ni-Mh battery, however they sell a special charger that will charge all three types of batteries. This battery is made in China, rated at 3000 ma, and the last one I purchased on ebay was a tick under $41. You can't buy an xrp battery for that amount and the Ni-cd never lasted me more than 2 years without going limp.

The dewalt Li-ion battery is lame compared to this one. Can do more with one of these batteries than I can do with 2 Li-ions.

i agree. the nicads can't do what the new hi cap NIMH do. and it's way cheaper to rebuild/rebat an old 'case' with new cells than buy fromthe manufacturer.. for me it was less than 1/3 the price.. even including gas to drive up and back and 1 minute of electricity for the solder iron.. :)
