My oldest and next oldest tool

Only needed 4 ft of facia and didn't want to spend $14 for new facia, so I made my own out of rain gutter that Menards gave away years ago. Used my oldest tool. Can't really beat it. Will bend metal too. Can't really move it very easily.

My second oldest tool is 10 inch south bend, 1949, only 64 years old. Still works great.

Nice tools George.
I wish I was closer. I'd come over and fold up some aluminum to wrap some windows here.
As for the lathe, I would have thought that by '49 they had a quick change gear box on them.

Bret,
You are right, after I posted it I realized I made a mistake. Just wondered if anyone could read it off the lathe. Where was the Atlas made? South Bend?

I think I read in the owner's manual it was a 1949. My menory isn't as good as it once was. It may be older. I have tools to use it as a wood lathe too. I can slow it down to turn very slowly and speed it up, all my moving belts around and a gear box inside.

What takes more time is changing the gears on the side, which I'm happy with them so I don't change. Don't have a desire to make threads.

Don't use it much, but it's nice to make things I can't buy.
