The Good Dusty man has ya covered (he's an electrician thats wayyyyyyyy more current then I am in this business), you can buy splice kits but as he noted its NOT for splicing inside conduit. At our facility I always specified splices be in approved junction boxes (grounded if metallic) that were in an accessible location.
The NEC books I had best luck understanding were the illustrated versions with tons of pictures and explanations. The hard core text only versions would drive a man to drink...
