This is an old outlet that was in a friend's house that is being rewired. I think it was for an old radio. The top slanted part has Aerial written on it and the bottom has power written on it. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I'll bet the other terminal at the antenna end was Ground. Old radios needed an outside antenna and an earth ground.

Yes, That is an old radio outlet, Commin in buildings built in late 20's, 30's, and 40's. The slanted was for an antenna wire often strung in the attic. The other was an earth ground often via conduit or bx cable.

Cool! I look for things like that when I work in old houses and save them if the homeowner doesn't care. I guess I'm a packrat for saving all kinds of old stuff.

Today there's a NEW version!

The more things change the more they stay (almost) the same!

That was made after a liquid lunch.

Many years ago when was in basic training, had to toss grenades that were supposed to have a four second cook time. Sargents told us to keep in mind that some of them were made on Friday afternoons after liquid lunches in anticipation of liquid weekends, and some were made on Monday mornings with hang overs after liquid weekends. Don't count on four second cook offs because might be ten seconds where you and the enemy could throw them back and forth a few times, or might be 1/2 second where the enemy is glad never made it out of your hand, so pull the pin and throw it.

My advice? Pull the wire, yell fire in the hole, and throw it fast and far before it goes off when least expected. Just a suggestion is all.
