Flashings for a metal roof

It's been almost 15 years since I installed metal roofing. That job was about as uncomplicated as a roofing job could be. Nothing came through the roof except one plumbing vent and a round metal chimney. The roofing supplier sold me the flashing for the vent pipe. I don't remember how I flashed the chimney, but I knew how at the time, and it must have been right because it hasn't ever leaked.

I'm considering reroofing with metal on the house I'm living in now. This is an entirely different situation---complicated roofline, many vents, chimneys, skylights, etc. that will have to be flashed. Generally speaking, who supplies flashings in this situation? Most of the vents are probably standard sizes, but I wonder about things like the round, tubular skylights.

Thanks, Stan

For some of that one of the premier suppliers I used to deal with was Hohmann-Barnard, (link attached).

There are some options, you may be able to install a reglet and flash from the masonry to the roofing material.

One of the best sealants or was, there is the ole standby tried and tested Dow Corning 790 series silicon sealants. You have to select the one that matches the substrates, (materials) that you want to bond 2, gets more complicated with 2 types in one joint, but metal to masonry, and so on, these do perform for years and they always were good on warranty work, we had them come in on large jobs, visit mock up labs where we tested their products etc. good quality and good service.

I have 4 Velux skylights on my roof and the flashings were specific to each skylight and came from Velux. Can't imagine how a skylight flashing can be home made and leak proof. Contact the manufacturer of your tubular skylights and I'm sure they will have the correct flashing for you.
