Questions about a Diamalloy wrench.

Hi, name's Jon.

I'm not really into tractors but I thought some of you guys could help me out with this. I have a 24 inch Diamalloy adjustable crescent wrench, it has a little surface rust and signs of use but it still works just fine. So I was wondering what it might be worth seeing as I won't be needing it.

Thank you.

In 1962 a friend of mine found a 24" Diamalloy
Cresent wrench and asked me if I wanted it. Told
him I would buy him a case of beer(24 Can.)
He brought it over,we drank the beer and I still have the wrench.
Very handy when you need it.
Glad I don't drink like that anymore.

I have a 24" from NAPA, at least 25 years old. Paid almost $ 150.00 back then. I looked long and hard at that wrench before I bought it but in the long run, it has come in very handy several times

Is it chrome plated ? Are there chew marks on the jaws? Hammer strike marks? . If I was putting it in a consignment shop I would place a 100 dollar price tag on it. The shop would take forty and I would get 60. It may sit awhile until the right buyer comes along but it is a painless process. If it was on eBay the high price of shipping would scare off alot of potential buyers but you would make about 87 bucks on a 100 dollar sale by the time eBay and paypal got done . If it was in a garage sale you might get 30 bucks for it. It was expensive when it was new.

There is one listed on an Atlanta auction site for 50 dollars and says it has been up for seven months.Google it.

I'm up in Ely, MN. I was going to try asking around $40 for it locally but there's probably not much of a market for it here. I think it's chrome played and it does have some chew marks. I've seen some of the Diamalloy sold as "collectibles" but due to the slight surface rust as I mentioned this would just be for regular use. I still might try eBay but like you said, the shipping would probably scare most away.

(quoted from post at 10:58:29 06/04/13) Saw a new 24" at Lowes for $100 a couple days ago.

Sad part of that is you're paying $100 for the exact same Chinese wrench you can get at Harbor Freight for $23.99 with a 20% off coupon.

Neither is the quality of an old name-brand Crescent, but they aren't bad.

You must not have sold anything recently as it is a lot higher than that to sell since they raised their rates and you have to pay selling fees on shipping. My last items have averaged 21 to 24 percent total.

I work on heavy equipment so I use alot of the big tools on a routine basis. Most of my larger stuff I buy in the area pawn shops because I like the older tools and because the prices are alot cheaper than new. That said, for a old 24 inch adjustable, in the condition you are describing, I'd have no problem paying around $50 for it, sight unseen, and I might even go as high as $75 but I'd have to see it first. Even then I'd probably try to talk you down to $60...LOL....That's why I love pawn shops, never pay full asking price...

You know I did notice they were taking alot of money from my account lately . Do you know the exact rate ? I sold 100 dollars worth of tools today.
