Silver Queen seed -OUCH!

Have you forgotten the corn belt DROUTH last year, and this is the way it's being done in this country now , raise the price we will pay it . $$$$$$$$$$$$
 
So that would be about $640 for a bag of seed. Doesn'r make the traited stuff look so bad from the big seed companies any more!

Small purchases like that require all the same overheaqd as if tyou bought 1000 lbs - paperwork, reciept, time for processing the order, tax records, etc. All of that costs maybe $5, or $10 to make a sale.

You get all that built in processing costs onto just your one lb.

Then you can save your own seed in the future, so they might not make more sales to you - need to get what they can from this one sale.

As govt requires more taxes and more record keeping, it only gets worse.

Worthless dollar.I used to buy a 5 pound bag for 5 bucks.Guerney catalog has corn for 45 bucks a pound.I saw a pound of seed potatoes for 17.95 in one catalog.Berlin Seed has good prices for corn.Silver queen is 9.75 a pound or 9.25 a pound in 5 lb bags.They have Iochief for 7.50.Ripoff pricing is very common now.A farm store gets 182.50 for a fence charger that usually sells for 125.00.
 
Much of the food grade organic soybeans were bred by the Iowa university system, and they retain ownership and licencing of their organic bean seeds as well.

So, the same applies to most any seed these days, not just gmo.

Not to change subject but is GMO corn sold by retail seed companies like Guerney's?
I've been buying hybrid corn for garden use but not sure about the new GMO stuff. thanks
 
Theres plenty of op corn.I grew it for many years and always got a good crop.Lancaster Sure Crop and Reids Yellow Dent were good choices.
