Where some of us live, we can't always count on the power being on. Especially in the winter and after storms, so it's nice to have a generator to run the well and refrig. I picked up a used RV 3500 watt genny for $150, new it's around $300. Believe it or not, the 4 cycle genny uses less gas than a chain saw, starts on one or two easy pulls, only weighs 100 pounds. I put a chain around it, connect it to the loader and off I go to the woods. My total cost, even if I bought a new genny $300, saw $100, would be around $400. The upside to an RV genny is it has a 30 amp 120v plug and is very quiet.
Keep in mind, it's nice to have back up electricity too. Like doing 2 things at once.
