String Trimmer

The best string trimmer that I ever had - lightweight, well-balanced, fit like a glove - let the entire shaft fall out, like it disconnected from the engine. I don't begin to see how to fix it. It's a Homelight. Any thoughts?

The shaft, the tube thing, disconnects from the engine somehow and the drive shaft or cable attaches to the engine from the clutch. It should be fairly evident once you disconnect the engine. How you do that depends on the model. MAny use a simple collar and clamp system.
