I am replacing some rubber stair threads. Was wondering what adhesive to use? Any special way of doing it?

Your best bet is to ask the flooring store that you bought the stair treads from what to use (or if you bought from a box store, go into a flooring store and buy glue there). Usually they have a glue from the same company as makes the stair treads that you bought but sometimes they will recommendation a glue that works better.

The problem is, there are too many different flooring products out there to make a firm recommendation and there is no telling if the glue would work with the flooring. I dont think I would use anything mentioned so far though, stairs take a beating and I dont think they would last. Not alot to lose though, as long as nobody gets hurt if the treads let loose that is. If things let go, clean things up again and reglue.

probably contact cement would be good get both surfaces good and clean and apply a thin coating of adhesive to both sides.Let the glue dry till it doesnt feel tacky, about 15 minuts or so,put some dowels down so you are able to get the tread into the EXACT position where you want it to stay and stick it down no second chances with contact cement once it touches its stuck good luck
