I just bought some Fluid Film to do underneath of my 06 GMC that has some surface rust. Quite a few guys swear by it here in Maine. I haven't used it yet.

I used some Fluid Film when I plated the chassis of my F150.Sprayed the chassis and the plates. There are shops that spray chassis with Fluid Film. Its expensive stuff.B&L auto in Bangor seems to have the best price.Rocker panels were gone on my son in laws Chevy at 144,000.I notice the tube cross members on GM trucks are full of salt and sand.I told him to wash the tubes out 2 years ago.Took a look at the truck a few days ago.He didnt bother. My son has an 06 GMC, he wont take a few minutes to hose them out. These tubes have a high failure rate. Some plastic plugs would stop the rust out.Ive got some drain out hydraulic oil that Ill spray on the Ford.Dosent stink like drain oil.

The auto body supply gave me a free can of that and told me to try it and get back to them. It smells horrible but works really great on protecting against rust. As a penetrating oil it is too thick ,but for raw metal stored outdoors it is great. The best feature is the little spray tube is retained in the cap so it doesn't get lost. Seems to be good stuff.
