Loading a string trimmer spool

It's a Toro electric weed wacker.
The spool has an arrow with the word WIND. Does this mean to wind the string in that direction - or turn the spool in the direction of the arrow as you load string onto the spool?

I'd say to wind the trimer line in the direction of the arrow. Don't you take the spool right out to add the line?

Yes, you remove the spool to reload it.

This question arises because when you screw the spool back on the trimmer head, it "unwinds" the string that was wound in the direction of the arrow- that seems wrong. You can't completely reinstall the spool without having a bunch of loose string.

The new string supply container is made to let string feed out as it is pulled - so it's easy to restring by turning the spool rather than winding the string after it's pulled out of the container.

Guess I'll try it both ways and see which works best.

Everyone I have been around that arrow means the direction you wind the string. Not familiar with that head but a person has to wonder if the designers ever used some of them. The main reason I love my Stihls is the head.

Wind in direction of arrow. Often times there are catch tabs for the string to sit in while you remount the spool. ON some you get the thread started and pull the line to tighten, then rewind the string onto the spool by pushing it past the line stop catch.

If it really bugs you, get and after market type that uses a different system.
