Update on my S10

Hi all
Back in Jan. I posted that I was having a problem with my S10. It was overheating and I didn"t know if it was a headgasket or an intake gasket. It was suggested that I check for milky bubbles on the dipstick. Oil was fine, so I checked the radiator. I couldn"t see any coolant, so I filled it up and started the engine and looked around under the hood, when I saw cooolant running down the back of the motor. I knew it was the intake gasket. I don"t have a warm place to work, so I put it off until it was warm enough to work on it. My 68 year old bones don"t like to work in the cold. I finished it up the other day and everything is fine. Thanks to all you guys for your input.

Son and I have both had same probleem with our S-10 Blazers. New manifold gasket, and good to go. Unfortunately, had no facilities or time to do it ourselves. Had to pay to have it done.

HI Rabbit

My son had an S10 Blazer too that the gasket was leaking, but that was before I retired so he had his done at a repair shop. Now I have the time so I did it myself. There is so much to get out of the way to remove the manifold and the labor is most of the cost of the job.

My son's S10 had the 4 cylinder (Isuzu I think) engine. One day, it started leaking antifreeze at the rear of the head near the firewall.

Come to find out, there is a rubber plug or freeze plug in the rear of the head. I just got one of those rubber plugs with a bold through the center, laid on my back and tightened till I could tighten no more.

It was hard to reach, but for all I know, it's still running around with that rubber plug in it
