Hello,

Finally got my splitter home from my brother in law. WE always had problems with the float. It looks like swiss cheese now. I had it on the bench and put more lead on it. Hope it will float! Anyone know of a source for this beast. Sigle lung Wiscansin AB . with a Stronberg 1 5/8 IN carburetor.

Hard to tell but it looks a lot like many floats in the M/S carbs. I know if I had it I would compare it to some of my junk carb stuff I have

Hello old,
I was taking a rest and posted the pictures of the float. I went out and split a few logs, it is working fine...................for now!
I'm surprised, as there is much lead on that float. I'll put it to work tomorrow and see if it olds up. I have another splitter in the yard, and i like to get this splitting done before it gets too hot! I'm guessing about 6 more cords, so that old thing better work, or i'll park it.
I do know that those engines AA to AKS use the same float, and have the part # if I can get a souce to by it from. That one had a tag that said USN on it is WW2 vintage, i think.

I have also used a product called "Seal ALL" on soldered floats. It is an epoxy type product that is fuel resistant. It forms a skin like while it drys. I works real good. I usually do one side and let it dry and then flip it and do the other. You can put a thin skin of it all over the float and they will last a long time then.

I agree with old. Sure looks like ones in an 8N ford or others with the marvel schebuler carb.

And I agree with both Mike and Old.

Marvel-Schebler TSX 33, TSX 241, TSX 157, etc., etc.

Can you post the carb name and number. I picked up several what I thought were Wisc. engine carbs in a box at a auction. I might be able to help u out gobble

Hello tomturkey,

I think its a Stromberg. I will look for tags on the carb. I have not really looked at it for any I.D. Thanks for the offer! I can post a picture of the carb.

Guido.

Hello tomturkey,

Just now got my computer back. I have to run now!
First chance I get I"ll post some post some pics.

Thanks.................Guido.

Hello rustyfarmall,

I have done some research, and my model is an ADH AEH, and they used one model Zenith carburetor and two or three Stromberg. NO M&S listed,

Stromberg and Zenith are more or less synonymous, but that float sure looks like a Marvel-Schebler to me.

1.) So, what"s the number on the "lil round brass tag, clearly visible in your later pictures?

2.) WHAT engine is it, so far you have posted.... "AB", "ADH", and "AEH".

3.)Have you been to the manual download site I"ve linked below and downloaded the correct operator"s manual/parts list for the engine you have?

(UNFORTUNATELY it appears at least one page didn"t get scanned in the carb section of the ADH, AE and AEH manual, probably the one we need!)
Manual downloads

Hello bob,

The tag is blank, I have downloaded the manual which gives me the part number of the float. I had very little time since my post, including having the computer away for repairs.
Thanks for the info..............Guido.

Hello bob,
I looked at the break down of the carburetor, but that part # is for an AB. The manual for the ADH has only the carburetors listed with the models.
Mine can be either an l-45B or L-48B. I'm thinking may be the l-45b-2 Stromberg model UC3/4
# 426920. The original paper manual( WHICH I DON'T HAVE) would have a service bulletin for service replacement parts for the carburetor in the back. I need to call Wisconsin Engines, and see if the can get me going. I have used the splitter after the last solder affair, and it seemed O.K. until it loads up with gas again!
Thanks for your interest.........Guido.

Did you look at the .pdf link I posted above to the Wisconsin carb manuals where they DO NOT show the individual carb parts being available from Wisconsin (beyond an OH kit)?

If you GOOGLE "Stromberg UC Float", quite a few carb parts places and phone numbers come up.

Hello bob,
I'm trying to get other things done, I took time to take a look at the AB manual that I have.
here is the car break down for the AB. If I can find one like it for my beast and a source I would be set.......................Got to run
Thanks again,
Guido
