Was at house hold auction today. There were a couple of guns, none working, what I call wall hangers. Gun collectors looked and then left. Family was still carrying out stuff. One box had hunting related items in it. I bought it for $20. It had close to 1000 5MM rounds in it. Auctioneer had got there late and family were acting as property people, not checking contents of boxes out, just showing what was on top.I Sold several items from the box for $40. A couple of years ago the 5MM rounds were selling for $1 apiece. Don't know how much they're going for now. I now have a good stockpile of rounds for my Rifle.

So you walked off with 600 dollars worth of ammo Another $80, for $20? And then brag about it on a public forum? What kinf of replies do you wnat? Congratulations for your "good fortune"? And fess up, you saw them before you bought the box .didn't you?

Not to steal Big ruh's thread here but where in SD are you Gordo?
I'm sitting in Vermillion SD about a block from the National Music Museum typing on some strange laptop.

120 miles away near Mitchell.. Don't miss the Music Instruments museum. They have some of the very best in the world in there.

Going to an auction is about knowing what something is worth when no one else does. I always dig through the boxes looking for nuggets of value and then watch to see if it's a deal. Great find.

I always try to go early so I have time to check out the boxes. Then you better keep track of your treasures, because some butt head will start moving things from one box to another to increase his " oh it was in a box of junk at an auction". Soo what was in the box is no longer there, and you do end up with a box of junk. gobble
