Homelite XL12 Chainsaw

Does anybody know what type of chain this saw requires ? Does anybody know if it is 404/63 gauge or is it 3/8 50 gauge.
Thanks Tony

3/8" .050 may be the standard, but your bar (assuming you have one) will tell the width intended to be used. It's not unusual to find .050 chain in a .058 or .063 bar, makes for sloppy performance.

Here is a picture of the saw.
It did not have a bar and chain when I got it.
The saw was covered with many years of oil and dirt and did not run. It runs and operates excellent now.
Thanks Tony

Good reliable old saws. I bought a red one new in 1976, and never could wear it out. Cut all my firewood with it for 25 years and finally gave it to my son, who still uses it.

In 1972 I wanted a chainsaw, went out and
bought a Homelite SXL-AO. Over the years I
bought about 4 spare chains. Still have the saw
sometimes it gets gummed up, get it cleaned up
and running great all over again. Still able to
use the original chain that came with the saw. Got a Homelite XL with 10 inch bar, Lost that
when repair shop closed down. Got another on E-Bay. Good to go again.
