vacuum pump to compressor conversion

Hello,
I have an old De Laval vacuum system from a four stall milk parlor I would like to convert to an air compressor.... It seem to me it would be as simple as switching the in/outlet... (adding pressure switch/regulator and an oil filter.... Is this the case or will It take much more?

I have used many auto air conditioner pumps, the old piston types. They work great for small compressors, build up a lot of pressure and are quiet. If you are talking about a vane type probably won't be useful.

Is it a vane pump or a lobe pump?
If it's a vane I can't see it working out. Lobe pump.... basically a roots blower... is quite common on larger scale compressors. Wether or not the seals will take that kind of pressure... I don't know.

Likely not to build much pressure on the back side, and the tank is certainly not certified for any level of PRESSURE that will do you much good. On the other side, maybe not enough gonads to blow anything up and hurt you.

i do know of guys making a "vacuum table" with them. Kind of reverse air hockey tables. To hold flat wood work for edging. Popular in the Formica top days.

Had a neighbor that did that-reversed the lines on the bucket. Could'nt keep the lid on, so he bolted an oak 2x4 over it. Worked fine until the 2x4 broke. The lid went out of sight like a rocket! Was kinda funny as no one got hurt.

Surge had a vacuum pump that you pressed in on a knob and turned to use as a compressor.

I've seen one and never changed it so not sure that was the way to change it.
