John Deere LX255 will not start

Engine1

Please help..My John Deere LX255 will not start. I put in a new spark plug and the battery tries to get the engine to run but the engine will not turn over or start running.
Wonder if it could be a bad coil or seat switch or ?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check the battery cable ground connections - take them apart and clean ALL surfaces before you re-connect them.

Battery is trying to get the engine to turn over. Could it be anything else other than the battery ground?
Thanks

Not turning over? What I mean is the flywheel was turning and the engine was making the sound it makes when it turns but will not crank or fire.

Not sure exactly what the problem was. Guess it could have been a weak battery and possibly the spark plug. Bought a new battery. Still did not crank like it should and backfired some when the engine did run. Then removed plug, cleaned the plug, and screwed the plug in tight and now it runs perfectly.
Also, after buying battery, we disconnected, cleaned, and greased connections with dielectric grease but I think the spark plug was dirty and/or not torqued tightly enough which caused the inconsistent cranking/backfiring after installing a new battery. Hope someone may learn something from this experience. I sure did.
thanks
