channel lock brand

I'm going to buy myself a new assortment set of pliers because I'm tired of JUNK! Do any of you know anything about the channel lock brand? I've been looking at them, looks like good quality. Thanks

Channel Locks are the best out there. They should not wear out, they wear in. Channel Lock pliers are like the old Vise Grip locking pliers. Can't beat them.

I have used the Diamalloy brand for year's with excellent results. Have tried them all and they always seemed to be the best. The only problem I have is I seem to lose them way to often. They just seem to never wear out. I haven't bought any for year's, so don't know if they are still available or made in USA.

I own a bunch of them and have enjoyed great service. Similar, I've had good luck with Vise Grip (Peterson I believe???) Mac, S&K, Proto and yes Craftsman. I own a few Snap On and they have been fine also. To each their own, competition among tool makers (and any other stuff for that matter) is fine by me........

Gee Dusty, you musta worked too long or too hard to wear a pair plum out lol but I guess an electricians work EVERY DAY can do that huh

So, will I see you at Florida Flywheelers again next year???

I got tired of channel locks pinching my fingers, being hard to adjust ,and not gripping things very well. Bought a pair of Knipex and was sold on the design and quality !!! Get yourself at least one pair. Mine easily paid for theirselves one time I removed a buggered up drain plug nothing else could grab.

Their pliers are still made in USA, but a lot of their other tools are not. I think their screwdrivers are made in Spain and their Crescent-knockoff adjustable wrench is from Taiwan, but I haven't seen any made in China.

Channel locks are my favorite. If you want a pliers that will grip most anything try this one. It grips as good and similarly to a pipe wrench but is more versatile. It won't get into all places but is one of the best tools out there for getting rounded off nuts off. It will grip any bolt even without any head on it. It is almost indestructable to. I've had a cheater pipe on mine for tough stuff and it's still like new. It doesn't require you to squeeze to grip, it pulls tight by itself. Once it's on the nut you can push with an open palm and it won't slip.

No Taiwan is a not in China it is an island . It is a democracy [sorta] or some fake democracy but it is a different country than China.

Hey Mick.

Channelock sells their pliers both made in the USA and made in China.

I have both and as always I try to buy USA but I really saw no difference in quality.

Great tools.

(quoted from post at 09:23:30 03/22/13) Taiwan is in China.

Taiwan is a sovereign island nation off the coast of mainland China. Taiwan is our friend, China is our enemy, to put it in easy terms. Taiwan is where the Chinese Nationalists (Chain Kai Shek?) that helped us in WW2 ended up after the Commies took over IIRC.

Vice Grips are now made by Stanley, in China.

Funny thing is, at the local wally's-mart, the 9 inch Stanley locking pliers, and 10 inch Vice-grips, are the exact same tool.

How much does a pair of 460s cost there, the big channnellocks? Seems to me when I looked (moved away 3 years ago) they were pushing $60. I can get them here in sw Nebraska for $25.
