Picked up this old compressor today, it a Curtiss 2 stage.
4 1/2 x 2 5/16 bores dont know the stroke or rpm.
Hooked up to a Wisconsin's 2 cyl engine,everything turns.
Anybody want to guess at the output, age or if it worth getting
going? Thanks

Curtis is still in business. I have a 1938 Curtis compressor running now. Do a Google search for them and they may be able to answer your questions.

There should be a tag on the tank that will give the specification for the compressor. On second thought, I think mine is on the back of the compressor itself.

The bore sizes are very similar to Quincy 325, which is a 5 hp (electric) pump. With a proper motor or engine, and the pump at around 900 rpm, you should get 16-18 cfm. Interesting design, hydraulic unloader?

picked up an old curtis back in 2001 that looks like yours or simular. It didnt have a tank and I could tell the motor and pulleys on it were not original. No info except a tag that said C-96. I googled it and found yhey still exist and fired off an email asking and it took a while but someone emailed back this one sentence.
"Air delivery on your C-96 Curtis pump is 18.2 CFM @ 175 PSI. This pump requires a 5 Hp. motor and runs at 755 RPM." I sized out the right motor pulley and found a salvaged rail car air brake tank and it works great. If yours is a c-96 you have your info, if not try the google thing

I have a Curtis two stage from the early 50's. It's well made and quiet. Parts are spendy though. A valve assembly & head was $450.00
