sharp convection oven

I have had this oven for 2 years. My wife cooked everything in it. Last week the turntable quit. I took it apart had a little motor in it with plastic gears. It use to turn 7 rpm. Looked on the repair web site. They wanted $79 for one. Went on Ebay and found one for $8 so I bought 2. No better than they are made I got a feeling I will need both.

Sounds like they wanted to make all of their profit on the repairs. Several years ago, I had an Acer computer that got hit by lightning. Their repair department wanted $125 (plus shipping) for the power supply. I started entering the make/model/serial number in Google and I found a site that shipped me the identical product, with free shipping, for $19. The computer worked fine for years after that.

Google is your friend!

I have fixed mine twice. Downloaded the service manual, excellent troubleshooting matrix. Last problem was everything seemed to be working - fans running, turntable moving but no heat. Ended up being a microswitch interlock on the door. Pulled the switch, typed the number in to google. Sharp wanted $36 for it. Found it crossed to a switch that they use in a lot of microwaves and washers. Got the new number and called a local repair shop. Had one it stock, would cost me $3.15. Installed it and back up running...
