Dewalt hammer drill

I was looking at a Dewalt DCD 970 hammerdrill. The store has both type 1 and type 2. The only difference I can see is the chuck. Which one is better? Thanks

If you are drilling into rock or masonary you really want a rotary hammer. Most have the ability to either chisle or to rotary hammer drill. These usually use SDS bits or chisles. They are more expensive than a typical hammer drill and will not usually do typical "drill" work as the chuck does not tighten down on the bit. But the difference in performance is amazing when you need to install holes in rock or masonary.
