belt dressing in a tube (no spray cans)

I haven't seen it in years. Used to look kind of like a grease cartridge, you tore the paper on the end away and held it against the belt? I remember it. Seems like it was rosin and tallow or something. They say roofing tar will work the same way.

I just pour a little homemade sorghum syrup on the belt whenever it needs a little grip. Used it on sawmill belt for years. If someone new was around, I would pour it on and dip my finger in it and lick it off. Always grossed them out to see me eating belt dressing.

Last I knew the only new being made was from a fellow in the Author Ill Amish community but I have lost his contact information. There a recepies on line to make your own with bees wax, rosin and a few other things. Watch Ebay too, I bought a life time supply there last summer.
