Had a young Irish feller stay here about 15/20 years ago. I noticed he kept putting the flag up after he picked up the mail, he thought that's what you, do and when it was delivered you could see flag down from the house. Wasn't to bad a idea. |

| I had a neighbor who put a large red plastic lid between her mailbox door and mailbox. When the mailman had deposited mail the red lid would fall down and hang by a light chain. She would get her mail and put the lid between the box and door again. |

| This is the kind we have-- on a spring. Catch a string in the mailbox lid, when the mailman opens the lid the yellow flag pops up. Got this for $1. Usually they fasten on the box, I have a shield to protect the box from the snowplow man and fastened it to that. |

| That's a great idea, but we can't see the box from the house. |
