Illuminated magnifying glass

I"m looking for a illuminated magnifying lamp. I have seen some for sale, but what strength is a good one?/ Thanks

It depends on how bad you need it. I got my wife a 2X and it doesn't help enough.

Mine says "5 diopter" on it and I find it works very well for soldering circuit boards and gun work. It also has a small area about the size of a quarter in one corner that is more powerful and great for slivers.

Try to get one with a circular flourescent lamp. Far better than one with a conventional lightbulb. Ask how I know

I got one for christmas with 5 led lights and it is very handy. Great for low light conditions.

I used to use one with a circular flourescent lamp to tie flies, Still use it from time to time for a lot of projects.
