Thanks guys for your help, I had found that web site but had not found the repair section. I think I will temp in a battery bank of D cells or something like that and see what I get. Power light doesn't even come on.

We had a magneto repair workshop at our cubfest/IHC Winter Convention just today. He demonstrated the model 98 and mentioned that it required a 7 1/2 V lantern battery. I'm not familar with a 7 1/2 V battery,but didn't question him about that.
