#1:I recently purchased a used Wells Index model 847. It has a B&S#9 spindle, the seller threw in 3/8,1/2 & 5/8 end mill holders. I talked to A&D machinery (wells index) & they can regrind my spindle to R8 for $280.00 I need to replace both belts& work on the brake. Also it will cost about $235 to purchase more B&S 9 holders to complete the set.So do I stay with B&S or while replacing belts etc. just go for it? What would you do? #2:Looking at koolmist starter kit &Optimum machine tool coolant pump @ Grainger opinions please?! thank you |

| Go R8.
I wouldn't invest into a coolant system, unless you are doing specific materials and operations which you might need them for...??
I run a mill daily, and we have air through a flexible hose that can blow on the end mills, drills, etc.
If you want to spend money look at a good DRO or a Kurt power drawbar. Or a good Kurt vise! |

| | Definitely go to R8. R8 tooling is cheap and readily available anywhere. Are you looking at a mist type or flood type coolant system? The mist systems are not good for your health. If I was going to use a mist type it would be a UNIST system. They won't waste coolant or fog your shop up. The flood types are nice but make a real mess on a knee mill. |

| Buzzin, Tools 4 cheap in connecticut has full sets of # 9 B&S for 140.00 , I bought a set to use in my mill rite. Also use them in a cincinatti #2 that has # 10 B&S with a bushing and in a #3 kempsmith with #11 B&S with 2 bushings. george |

| I would drop the money now and go to R8. This is the most common these days and you'll be starting with a new taper. The collets are not prohibitively expensive thru Enco or even on Fleabay. |
