I've never seen stainless steel 6x6 wire mesh. It would have to be pricey. In my 30+ years in the constuction industry, whenever we tore up an old slab with wire mesh in it, the majority of it was within 1 inch of the bottom, not really where it ought to be. That comes from walking in the concrete when placing puddling and screeding. American Concrete Institute says just add a inch of thickness and forget the wire mesh. just my experience gobble

My floor has rebar in it and 6x6 steel underneath for tubing attachment. I have never heard of using stainless steel.
