what is this?

This set of little metal pieces was enclosed in the metal storage capsule as shown. The tips are shaped and the other ends are squared as if they are inserted in a holder. All appear to be similar. I can find no maker marks.

What are these? Ideas welcome.

Thanks.

If the ends are square they are probably for a hand sewer, like you'd use on leather- a handle with a bobbin and a square chuck up front or hold the tool or needle. Usually those bits get lost. You put it in the chuck and twist back and forth to got through the leather. I have 2 of those rigs and one has a couple of those bits in the handle.

All the Yankee bits I have are round shanked with an indent in the side for the lock. I made one that fits mine and put a socket on it to hold modern screw driver bit. The original "Cordless Screwdriver"!

The case is for carrying the lead used in old mechanical pencils. I have several of them in my desk drawer. The other things are soldering tips for soldering on small electrical circuits. Square ends are inserted in to the soldering iron and held in with a set screw.
