SK is still in business. SK has passed through several hands over the years, being partnered with the Wayne tool company from about 59-68 or so.

They recently went through a time of poor quality, but are back strong now under new ownership. I just recieved a free rebuild kit for a SK wayne ratchet from the new company, no questions asked.

Sure wish that I had my old sets of S-K tools. Some dirty so-and-so stole them out of our garage about 20 years ago. Imagine they ended up at some flea market somewhere.

Had kind of a sentimental attachment to them; I bought the 1/2" set with the first money that I made from my FFA project when I was a sophomore in high school. Bought the 3/8" & 1/4" sets a few years later.

You can look up SK on the Alloy Artifacts pages and get the SK-SK Wayne details.

I just had a SK Wayne ratchet that was cracked in the head, no signs of abuse, SK replaced the whole ratchet. SK has always been good to deal with for me.

SH tools are still in business. They were bought out by Ideal tool. Or something close to that. I have bought a lot of tools in the last couple of years from www.tooldesk.com. Just bought a set of SK last week. They are US made.

Now owned by Ideal (the folks that make electrical tools and other electrical items) and they are in a new factory west of Chicago that was built on the fasttrack a couple of years ago by Ideal. Ideal only acquired the rights to the name, drawings, and such from the bankruptcy court, so they had to build complete new facilities, tooling, etc.

Hasn't been owned by Wayne Industries in over 40 years.

How did you claim warranty? Contact SK directly? I went to a dealer with a couple of broken tools - he gave me a brush-off.

Yes they are still selling tools. I have done well with sets from yard sales I sold on eBay. The ratchets were very strong and hard to break. Some sets starting in the 1960s had plastic boxes although the orignal metal ones still came with some sets. The original S-K stood for Sherman- Klove. the 3/8" size was a common houslehold socket set which sold millions. Lots of them on eBay. Screwdrivers are so so .Sockets have two small grooves machined into them and even loose bring money.
