2002 Goodman Dependable 92

I have a Goodman GMPN condensing furnace in the shop. It seems that it"s not putting out the water (condensation) it should. Had the furnace guy out yesterday and only found the control box was cracked. That"s his term. I found a drawing in the furnace book that shows a box connected to the blower or vent pipe depending on how the unit is setup, and the bottom of the box drains into a condensate pump. I"ve look on internet and can"t find any mention or pictures of this box. I would like to find a price so I know if I"m gonna get hosed or not.
Thanks.

Usually that piece is part of the secondary heat exchanger on most furnaces. They are changed out with the secondary, especially in Trane. You may be able to get the part but I'm leaning to the not possible. Is the crack leaking the condensate out into the inside of the furnace, probably, if so wash it out immediately as it is corrosive. J-B weld or a good high temp silicone could possibly patch it for the short term. If this furnace was purchased new by you, you may want to check to see if there is warranty on the secondary. Even so it is getting old enough that you may be adding money to something that is ready to fail in other ways. My biggest question is where is the condensate going if not into the drain. There may be more wrong than the cracked collector box.

The tech said that there was a small amount of rust under the box and had been there a while. The water is draining out into a 55 gal drum.
