Makita batteries

I bought a Makita cordless impact wrench several years ago, but I've never used it much. So, it sat in its case with its batteries losing their charge. Now, I've found a use for it, but the batteries will only last for a few minutes before losing their charge. Is there any way to bring them back?

HEllo woodbucher,
Discharge them 100% charge them untill the feel warm. If they stop charging before that, remove them from the charger and put them back on charge. Once they are up leave them in the charger for 8 hrs.

You might try freezing them real solid and then banging them on all sides, really hard, while frozen. It sounds funny i know but i did a set that way and they work like brand new.

They seem to grow hair between the plates that drain the power and freezing and banging breaks the hair off.
