Kerosene burning with spark plug , magic eye shuts it off after 5 minutes. What happens it runs and heats fine for a bit. Fuel pressure steady 3 lbs.
Fuel pressure starts to fluctuate and ignition stops and magic eye turns of reset button. Is there a way to clean the vanes in pump? I wiped vanes off with carb cleaner and it helped but not cured the problem. Thanks.

just my thoughts, remove suction line from the pump blow it out, replace filter and also clean out the tank

I just had a 70,000 do that same thing . Swapped out motor and pump from another one,,works fine now .

Are you sure it"s the magic eye? Does it have an overheat switch on it?

I don't know if is has a overheat switch. If it does I think it must be built in to the reset button. Heater is probably 35 years old.
I do know as soon as the pump pressure starts to fluctuate from 3 lbs and less it looses ignition and starts to smoke. In a few seconds the re set kicks out. When pressure starts to fluctuate it does so very rapidly. Needle just bounces. That is what makes me think it is sticking vanes in the pump. Thanks

it could be some crap around the fuel inlet causing the fuel flow to be restricted. Look up the DESA or Reddy web page and they have troubleshooting guides that might help.
