Splitting big wood for next years heat!!

Got some good sized leftover chunks from some logging done nearby. Nice sized pile of cutoffs beside their load deck. The ole 3pt splitter and Kubota didn't even groan. They're splitting good at 15 degrees outside!! This wood is perfect for the one guy I deliver to that likes his wood to be clean and only from the inside of the log, no bark, no kidding.

Thats a fussy customer, I'm doing wood right now as well. It all burns. I'm currently doing some pine for kindling and mixing in, and I'll use the entire tree, sawdust and branches to the ends, then back to hardwood. Neighbor lost a 80'-0" or so pine, nice healthy tree, with a double trunk part way up, 42 years old.

We had some blow down from a recent storm, left me some nice leaners, barber chairs etc., up top in the 11 acre woodlot of older hardwoods, definitely time to do some more logging, just wish the ground would freeze, got soft with a foot of snow just melted off, my guess is it will freeze. I kind of like working outdoors this time of year when the temperatures are tolerable, mid 20's-30's, no bugs, no high heat-humidity, and frozen ground. If the weather holds, its possible I'll get caught up on all the recently dead elm, storm damage and so on.

My friend, build yourself a cradle on one side of that splitter to catch the other half of the split log chunk! You're killin' yourself picking those things up! I built one for mine and it's the greatest thing ever.
