Just bought a new enclosed trailer to haul my antique cars. I would like to paint the plywood floor. What is a good strong paint that will last?? Is expoy paint good for plywood?? Thanks

If it were me I would probably use a textured deck finish. It isn't as durible as the epoxy but can have another coat re-applied at anytime. I think it would be too slick for a trailer but there is no reason you can't use an epoxy garage floor finish. You would just need to prime the wood first. Lowes has a valspar floor finish that runs about $70.00 to $80.00 a gallon which would do the trailer with two coats. You can just apply it with a roller. You would have to measure out the paint because once mixed you have to use it or loose it because it doesn't keep. It comes with about 80 ounces of paint in a gallon can that you mix a quart of hardener with to make a gallon. If you want the speckles in it they sell the sprinkles seperate. It looks difficult but all you do is hold the container up about 4' off the floor and shake it and let the flakes fall into the paint. Another option would be to use a porch and deck enamel. Tractor supply carries one.

My experience with epoxy paint is it's a bit brittle for wood. I think you would be well-served with a standard latex interior floor paint. You might want to mix in some sand so it's not slippery.

We have painted plywood floors in the converted barn where we live. I have tried gym-seal type products, latex and oil floor paint and I would say that any paint you use will get worn off in high traffic areas. That being said I guess most floor paints will work to protect the wood, they just will need to be repainted if you want them to look good.

The epoxy forms a thick, durable coating, but similar to an egggshell, it is very brittle.
The plywood I painted was a vertical surface which is not subject to flexing.
I would not suggest epoxy paint on plywood that may be subject to flexing or deflection under the weight of a vehicle or footsteps.

i used roll on bed liner on all my flatdeck trailers and wood ramps that I have outside.4 years so far and no issues with it gallon can will run about $70.00 last i did get it at menards lowes etc.

My boss bought an enclosed trailer for his use and had the floor and end gate coated with Linex bed liner, looks good and is somewhat antiskid also
No to the epoxies for the reasons others mentioned.
A quality oil base floor paint is your best bet. I have not seen latex floor, porch or deck paint that wears well. Personally I wouldn't use the anti-skid additives. They make it more difficult to keep the floor clean.
Many people with enclosed car haulers use peel and stick vinyl floor tile. If you go that route seal the plywood first.

Use a deck stain semi or solid and lightly pressure wash before. Epoxy and paint might react funny with the glue in the plywood. I recommend wolmans dura stian semi you can get at menards.
I know of some that have had good luck with the smooth bed liner paint on inclosed toy haulers.
The smooth can easily be swept or washed out.
I found a place on line to show that it can be bought. You might find it at a better price though.
