Lowes sale on dewalt cordless tools

Just got an email from Lowes, sale on dewalt combo packs. Thinking of getting two sets for my kids. They love to borrow dad's 1/4 inch impact. The 20v ion pack with a 1/2 inch hammer drill and 1/4 inch impact for $200 looks like a good deal. I paid almost $200 for 2 18v ion batteries and a charger about 4 years ago.

I use my 1/4 regularly for driving screws. That's what it seems to be designed for. They're nice when you are out of position, because of their small size. Also pretty good at getting corroded screws out of carburetors and the like. The impacting helps break them loose. Gotta be careful though. You can really round off screw heads.

All the things you use your drill for besides drilling holes. Get the three bit set of square drives for it and the 8 bit set of sockets with the 1/4 shaft on them.
I just bought one on Ebay for 66 dollars. (No battery)
I have 7 dewalt tools, two batteries and one charger. Works for me. Not often I use the vacumm, light sawsall, skillsaw, 1/2 drive impact, drill, and 1/4 impact at the same time.

I am very disappointed with my Makita 1/4" impact driver. I'd say 8 out of 10 times that I use it, it ends up breaking the head off the bolt / screw before it even gets tight. Just this past weekend I tried driving in some 3/8" lag bolts. I still had about 1/2" of lag bolt to go and "pop" the bolt head breaks off. It seems like the ultra-fast pulses of the impact fractures bolts.

Meanwhile, I've used my 1/2" air impact for similar duties and rarely have any trouble with fractured bolts.

You'll never use the drill again to put in screws. I just built a metal building 24 x 27 using screws to put on the metal. HOLY COW..I bought one of these after seeing a buddy of mine using one. Has become one of my most used tools. I have the dewalt bit accessories so I can use it with 1/4 sockets also.

I have 1/4 inch screw drivers. Once thought square heads were great until I discovered T25. Hard to believe, but it does a great job of removing rusty phillips from a wood deck. Also have a set of 1/4 inch nut drivers. I use mine all the time, mostly as a power screwdriver, but it will set lags too with the nut driver.

I have the same 20V combo. They work great, used them to build a large deck this summer. Abused the heck out of the 1/4 inch impact and it is still working fine. Went out and bought the 20v skillsaw too.
