Everlast 140st tig set up pics... and first project....

Here are some pics of my first welds.. This was 1/16 2% tungsten, and 1/16 filler rod... I was welding on an old thin tool box.... The second pictures are of the fan shroud on my John Deere G this is the first two times I have ever tig welded in m life... Im pretty happy with this little unit definitely worth the money.. I didnt know how the lift tig would work but over all its pretty great...

I'm not a TIG expert.... but I have been trying to learn the last few years... If I may suggest, it might be easier to learn on metal a bit thicker... Way less issues with blowing holes in it!!! Once you master that, go to the thin stuff. Just my two cents, and I am by no means a certified unionized and trained welder. But I have be trying to learn for the past 30 years...

Hi every body's got to start somewhere. i've seen worse for first goes, just keep practicing it will either fall into place or not just like most things in life. some guys make better doctors than mechanics lol.
I haven't tig welded for 20 odd years I Learned at engineering school. The first thing they taught us was to gas weld and Braze before we even got near the Tig.
It is a very similar process just a different/ more control'd heat method with Tig.
you should watch the guys tig weld aluminium pop cans together on you tube it's pretty amazing what can be done with them.

With all welding you really should have some what clean material to weld on, but with Tig you have to have very clean material. You need to buy a wire wheel, sanding pads, or flop disc for your grinder. If you get into aluminum work you'll need stainless steel wire wheel, and don't use it on anything but aluminum!
Try to remember to keep the filler rod real close to the puddle while welding that way it is inside the gas coverage zone. Cut the end of the filler rod off before each use. When starting, let the puddle form before dipping, and when you're about to finish dip one last time, that way you won't get the holes at the end of the welds.
