I am tring to find out what this old iron clamp could be our where it may have come from.
I found an old iron clamp that is oval in shape, has spikes all around it, hinged in the middle and attaches to a square post. It could be a tool, farm instrutment, fence post topor something. Can you help identify what it could be? I have pictures if that will help.

Here is a photo of the item.

Arnie - I can't tell the size of that thing, but it reminds me of a gadget that the old folks used to clamp on a calfs nose to wean it while running with the cow. Those spikes would poke momma, and she'd kick the calf away. The one I have is made differently, goes in the nose similar to a nose pinch, but mebbe yours had other parts that are missing.

yep used to break a calf or even a bull or another cow from sucking. tines would stick the cow and she would kick them.
