What Kind Of Heater To Dry House Garage Floor

I'm looking to buy a heater to dry the house garage floor from the snow carried in.I was thinking of using a 20" fan while running a torpedo kerosene heater, or should I use radiant type of kerosene heater or would I be better off with a Lp heater of choice. It would be just used while drying off the floor.

maybe a squeegee? push the snow or water back outside then you dont have to melt and evaporate it,and still have all of that moisture laden air in the building

Pretty hard to dry the floor with a heater, the floor will be the coldest. I would sweep the water out.

I use a wet/dry shop vaccum to collect the water. Takes a few minutes to do, but its less expensive that running a heater. Within a few hours the floor is dry.

An unvented gas heater will put 3 quarts of water in the air for every gallon of propane burned, I would expect nat. gas to do about the same. A vented heater or an electric one would work, but you should squeegee as much out as you can. I use a vented nat gas heater and a fan, but I sweep it out as well as I can first. Every time it snows it's a problem!

As noted, your best options are a bucket and mop and a squeegee. Unless you just want the garage warm, don't waste your time or money on the heater.

The best fan I have found is a squirrel cage fan. I bought a small one at HD for the camper,it moves a lot of air(Stanley) and is small in size. I also have two big one salvaged from scrap furnaces.

Moisture in air will condense on cold floor. Heated air by itself won't dry it out with ventilation. Remove snow/water with shovel, broom, or squeege
I can think of 3 methods that will dry it out, two expensive, other free.
Expensive-Radiant floor heat, either electric grid or hot water piping.
Dehumidifier.
Free- sunshine. If you are lucky enuff to have a south or west facing door, open it & let nature do its thing. Open door will also ventilate the humid air out & let drier air in. An open door on opposite side & a gentle wind help a lot.

Also ceiling hung gas or electric radiant.

The best heat for what your wanting is radiant heat in the floor itself. Which would not be practical to install on an existing floor.

Just about any other heat will work but will be slower in evaporating the water off the floor.

20/20 hide site but your garage should have had floor drains installed under each car bay.

Try using a fan alone before adding heat. Air dew points are low in cold weather. As others said use a broom, scoop or squeege to remove the excess snow and water to reduce the amount of water to dry up.

When the dew point is higher than the temperature of the concrete floor the floor will be damp.

I heat my shop with a woodstove.
I have a fan mounted inside of a 8 foot length of stovepipe.
This is mounted to the wall with the top six inches from the celing, the bottom ends 2 feet from the floor with a piece of cardboard attached to it on an angle to fan out the air.
The air is pulled down from the celing and provides constant circulation.
Without the fan it takes 3-4 days for the floor to dry after I bring in a vehicle, with the fan it is dry overnight.

This right here, sweep it out, set an oscillating fan on the floor set on high at one end or in the middle of one side of the garage, floor will dry off without heat.
