Harris Acetylene Regulator - Rebuildable ?

Well, now I own 2 #25-15c regulators that don't work. Cut metal for about 15 minutes, set it down, torch would not re-light,

Are they rebuildable ?
For how much $'s ??

Yes they are. Harris is still in business. Your welding supply store should be able to send them in for you. Don't know what it costs these days.

It would depend on what Harris regulator you have. The smaller cheaper ones can be boughten new for about what it costs to rebuild them.

I sent mine to:

Jerry's Welding Supply Inc
5367 US Highway 50
Hillsboro, OH 45133-7532

Phone: (937) 364-1500

Asked for Bob. He is super fellow to deal with.

They have someone that rebuilds them for them. My local Gas/welding supplier out here in Iowa told me that the older Smiths that bolt together could no longer be rebuilt. Set them to Jerry's and they had zero problem. It cost me about $65 including freight.

JDSeller I am so glad you are on this site! You seem to have knowledge in so many different fields! I for one am very greatful you are here to help out! Thanks

If you are near a large city that has more than one or two welding supplies stores call all of them. Where I live we have several. One of them charges a flat fee no matter what it takes to repair the regulator. Another charges just time and materials, he is a whole lot cheaper. Many years ago a welding supply did not charge me anything, he replaced the diaphragm in the oxygen regulator. I had bought the set from him a few years earlier. Shop around

Harris is one tough regulator. I hope you aren't laying your cylinders down and letting the acetone seep into the regulators. It will destroy a regulator after several doses.Propane will also deteriorate the regulator and the hose if its not propane specific. I have the two stage industrial (old big brass) and have never had a problem. Id hate to see how much fuel gas has went through it. But to answer you question, yes its serviceable.
