Kindle Fire hd 8.9 set-up

Help needed to set-up/connect/register Wife got one for Xmas. Cannot get it to do
anything. Not a wiz at computers. Using windows vista - wireless Linksys 2.4 ghz 802.11b

Your router wi-fi?? The Kindle Fire has to have a
wi-fi signal to work.

go to cisco connect and it becomes clear what to do took me 2 hours to find that out last nite, hope it works for you

On your kindle you should be able to go into settings, wifi, then look for a close by router (hopefully yours at the top). It will list all close routers. Your linksys will have a name and either be open or have a password. Whoever set it up will know. Press on the router name, and it will try to connect. If it is open, it will not ask for a password. If password protected, you will be asked to enter the password of the router.

If some one just plugged in the router some time ago and never setup the wireless, it will be in default. In that case, the name will be linksys and it will be open. If you are on a farm, that is probably ok. (I leave mine open for folks with their smartphones that visit) If you are in town, you should really update the router with a new name and password.
