copper pipe

I've never used lead in plumbing. Going back 40 years. Don't know what code was back then but the lead hazard was well known.

I was working in plumbing and know in late 70's thru about 85 we used both 50/50 but then went to 95/5 and in about 1988 we went to lead free

Sammy is right, I was a rep for Oatey, and in 1988 leadfree became the law. There was quite a controversy on which solder worked the best. (Most like 50-50 which the plumbers were used to). Some of the early leadfree solders had a pretty high melting temp and did not flow as nice as 50-50.
