Held in the palm of the hand, opposing the thumb. Metal piece was used to open the ear at the top, then the thumb was placed on the shuck and it was pulled downward to the base. A couple or three passes, and you had it pretty well shucked. [Reply]  [No Email]

Three pulls and the ear of corn was shucked. Snap the ear off and toss it on the corn wagon. In front of the tractor would pile them up. Pull the tractor forward 60 feet - and start over. 6 rows a day, the field seemed to go on forever. [Reply]  [No Email]

Gets old real fast! Especially in the cold. I only got the privilege when we opened up a field for the picker, but can remember my dad shucking corn in the barn all winter...
