air compressor

Just bought a new compressor. 60 gal I s there anything I can put inside while it's still new to save it from rusting. The old one lasted 12 years.

I did some work for a customer one time that religiously drained his compressor every day. After about a week of this I finally got the nerve to ask him why. He explained the instructions said to drain daily so he wanted to take care of it so he was going to do it. I then had to tell him the instructions meant to drain the water out of the tank, not the air.

Your new compressor is already coated on the inside. Without knowing what it's coated with you may give yourself more trouble trying to coat it again. Anything you might put into it might not adhere and you might get pieces of paint flaking off the inside of the tank stopping up your air. The best thing you can do is take the micky mouse drain cock off the tank and run a pipe out from it and put a lever water cut off valve on it so its easy to keep the water drained and drain it often.

Just draining each day when you shut it down. The water settles to the bottom, so you shouldn't have to strip the water off so far that you drain all the tank pressure, especially if it's an upright tank. They make automatic drain valves that will either drain the water bases on a timer or tank level of condesate. If you have a new tank keeping moisure out is the biggest thing you can do to preserve your tank.
