Jim that looks really good! I've always said it is hard to make welds look good on a flat plate. A groove or fillet weld are a lot easier to make look good. What brand of rod are you using?

Jim I found that with my Everlast PowerArc 200 it likes ESAB's Atom Arc 7018 the best. But a member over on Tractorbynet brought his Longevity Stickweld 250 over for me to help him with his welding. We figured out the Stickweld 250 runs Lincoln's Excalibur 7018 the best. These inverter welders just amazes me!
Here is some Atom Arc 7018 I ran with the PowerArc 200 on 2 1/2-inch pipe in the 6-G position.

Draw some straight lines on the plate with soapstone and try to follow them with your weld. A 1/8" 7018 should burn about 6".

Still waiting on my new welding helmet bottle and a regulator before I tig.. I do have the first project lines up making a flatback cover for my G pulling tractor.. I"m going to use 16 or 14 gauge.. Ill post pics.. I"m Verry happy with this little welder so far..
