Touch controlled wall lights ?

We have a bedroom with two wall mounted lamps that are touch controlled (no wall switch). One touch turns them to DIM, second touch turns them BRIGHT, third touch turns them OFF. Took them down to paint the room - they worked before removal.

Put 'em back - both don't work?? The fixtures are grounded, I was careful to connect the "identified conductor" on the electronic device to the neutral. Can't find a brand marking.

These things are magic as far as I know - Any help to resolve this?

I don't know how they work either, but I do know the little magic box inside does fail, and it CAN be replaced, but the replacement part will fail in just a few months, and then you either just buy a new lamp, or you eliminate the magic box, wire direct to the socket, and then put a roller switch in the line cord.

Contact...sometimes you lose the screw contact. I've got a couple and had to replace after 10 years or so. Mine often just come on when some kind of radio frequency is sensed.
I also have a slider switch/dimmer on my reading light. It's behind me and the slider switch is on the end table next to me.
You need to go to Home Depot and see what's availabel and how you can adapt it. There's a bunch of stuff for remote light operation.

Bad ground? Must be something you did, they both wouldn't go bad at the same time. I have a lamp like that and I had to replace the controller after a lightning strike last summer. Menards had one, not too expensive, came with good instructions.
